JOB SUMMARYThe Shuttle Cart Driver provides safe, reliable transportation for guests and tenants throughout the Port grounds, connecting amenities, event spaces, restaurants, and parking areas. This role emphasizes exceptional customer service, efficient traffic flow, and a comfortable passenger experience. Drivers support daily operations by promoting safety, following established routes, and maintaining clean, well-kept vehicles.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Provide safe, courteous, and efficient transportation for guests traveling between waterfront restaurants, public areas, event spaces, amenities, and parking lots.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting passengers, answering questions, providing directions, and sharing information about Port features, events, and amenities.
- Assist passengers with boarding and exiting the shuttle, ensuring accessibility needs are met with patience and professionalism.
- Serve as a professional ambassador for the Port while transporting guests throughout the site.
- Maintain a welcoming presence that enhances the guest experience and reflects the Port’s hospitality standards.
- Operate the shuttle cart in compliance with Port rules, posted speed limits, and safety protocols, adjusting to pedestrian traffic, weather, and waterfront conditions.
- Maintain constant awareness of pedestrians, cyclists, wildlife, and other vehicles.
- Follow designated routes and schedules while adapting to operational needs, event traffic, and special requests from Port staff.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of brakes, lights, tires, steering, and overall vehicle condition.
- Maintain the shuttle in a clean, presentable, and debris-free condition, both inside and out.
- Monitor battery levels throughout the shift and charge the shuttle at designated stations as needed.
- Promptly report mechanical issues, low battery concerns, and safety hazards to the supervisor and maintenance staff.
- Communicate effectively with Port staff, security, and event teams to support smooth operations during peak periods, special events, and heavy traffic.
- Share updates on guest flow, shuttle delays, and route obstructions to support coordinated waterfront operations.
- Assist with crowd management near shuttle stops to support orderly boarding and safe pedestrian movement.
- Complete required logs, checklists, and reports related to shuttle use, charging, inspections, and incidents.
- Collaborate with team members to support clear communication, efficient operations, and a welcoming guest environment.
- Maintain a positive, solutions-oriented attitude that supports team performance and workplace culture.
- Comply with all company, health, safety, and environmental regulations by recognizing hazards and using appropriate equipment and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area with minimal physical hazards.
- Report all incidents and accidents promptly to the manager.
- Participate in Port events to support organizational engagement and culture.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned to support operational needs.
- Demonstrate expertise specific to their profession and maintain appropriate licensing/certification.
- Possess intermediate level personal computer skills and the ability to effectively utilize electronic communication systems.
- Display the diplomacy necessary to address sensitive issues or complaints—both public and private.
- Possess effective conflict resolution and personal negotiation skills.
- Exhibit high ethical standards in the execution of position responsibilities.
- Cultivate and contribute to a dynamic, team-oriented work environment by being responsive, timely, respectful and knowledgeable.
- Communicate effectively in English, including the ability to read, write, analyze and interpret complex documents and other written material.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain insurability under the Port’s auto insurance plan.
