Educational Interpreter - Evergreen, AL

These onsite opportunities serve students during the  academic year and offer the chance to be a vital part of an inclusive school environment.

Openings available:

• First Position: K-12 students across three schools
• Second Position: K-4 students at a single school

Key qualifications and experience:

• Demonstrated proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting
• Valid national certification or state licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter (or eligibility to obtain)
• Experience interpreting in an educational context, including classroom and extracurricular settings
• Ability to effectively support students, teachers, and staff using American Sign Language (ASL)
• Collaborative mindset, excellent communication skills, and cultural awareness
• Experience or comfort working with various grade levels (for K-12 role)

Responsibilities include:

• Providing clear and accurate interpretation between spoken English and ASL
• Supporting students' educational access and engagement in all classroom activities
• Collaborating with classroom teachers and special education professionals
• Adapting interpreting approaches to meet individual student needs
• Facilitating communication during meetings, school events, and extracurriculars as needed
• Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical guidelines of the profession
