Job Overview
We are looking for a dedicated teacher for Grades 3, 4, or 5 to collaborate with staff, the district, and the community to enhance student learning experiences. The teacher will work within Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and contribute to a positive learning environment.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in any field.
- For those not completing a Teachers’ Education Program, a maximum of 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license and enrollment in a program aligned with the teaching line.
- Upon hire, must hold a valid Hawaii teaching license or an Emergency Hire Permit.
- Compensation: 10‑month teachers will receive salary per the Bargaining Unit 05 10‑month salary schedule.
- Paid sick leave: 18 days per school year (6 of which can be used for personal or professional development purposes).
- Health insurance:
State subsidizes part of premiums for eligible employees’ enrollment in State-sponsored Medical, Drug, Vision, and Adult Dental plans. - Group life insurance:
Free life insurance policy for employees and retirees. - Premium conversion plan:
Option to increase take‑home pay by having the State deduct health care premiums before payroll taxes. - Flexible spending accounts:
Tax‑saving benefit program for eligible employees. - Retirement plan:
State contribution to a retirement plan for eligible employees; qualified retirees may receive benefits based on years of service and age. - Tax shelter annuity and deferred compensation:
Opportunities for pre‑tax investment contributions and retirement savings. - Temporary disability insurance:
Benefits for disability caused by a non‑work related injury or illness. - Workers’ compensation:
Medical expenses and partial wage support for on‑job injuries. - Union: 12‑month teachers are represented by the Hawaii State Teachers Association.
New employees can expect their first paycheck within the first three pay periods of their start date. Paydays fall on the 5th and 20th (or the preceding business day) of each month.
