Position Summary
The ECE Teacher is responsible for providing a well-balanced, developmentally appropriate curriculum that enhances all aspects of a child s development, including health, safety, education, spiritual and psychological wellness at the Kroc Keiki Learning Center. This position may work a split shift with variable hours. The ECE Teacher will demonstrate a deep commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army in professional life and in representing The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in the community.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Associates Degree or CDA Credential from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, or Bachelor's Degree and 12 or more credits in ECE or Child Development coursework.At least one year of daycare or preschool teaching experience.An equivalent combination of training and experience may be accepted.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor s or Master s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field of study.
Essential Functions
Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and social needs of the children in the program.Ensure equipment and the facility are clean, well maintained and safe at all times. Assist in daily inspection of the environment to identify potentially hazardous objects or situations. Report information to the ECE Director.Prepare the classroom at the beginning of the day and perform cleanup and setup for the next day s activities.Provide weekly and monthly schedules of activities. Establish routines and provide positive guidance.Provide activities that introduce math, literacy and other academic concepts and culturally appropriate programs and activities.Provide daily lesson/activity plans which integrate Bible thematic units and include a variety of experiences and activities for children including songs, games and storytelling.Ensure children are supervised at all times, adhere to Salvation Army procedures for Protecting the Mission, and provide a safe and secure environment that builds self-esteem.Create a welcoming climate for both child and parent, especially at drop-off and pick-up times.Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner children understand. Implement positive discipline when required.Observe children and note progress. Develop and maintain current, accurate and confidential files.Communicate with parents, discuss children s development, and keep parents informed of program expectations and progress.Plan with and provide information, training, and guidance to Assistant Teacher, Aides, trainees, and volunteers.Provide appropriate feedback to staff on work performance and other job-related activities as needed.Complete formal written performance evaluations, discuss outcomes and set annual goals with staff.Promote team spirit and cooperation between staff, volunteers, and parents.Teach proper eating habits and personal hygiene. Serve meals and snacks in accordance with nutritional guidelines.Know emergency procedures.Attend scheduled KKLC Family Events outside of regular work hours. Flex time will be provided.Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures.Maintain the Code of Ethics policy for the Kroc Center Hawaii.Attend staff meetings and other administrative meetings.Maintain regular and punctual work attendance.Perform other duties as assigned.Mental Demands
