Job Overview

As a Selling and Support Captain, you are an advocate for the customer and a role model for your colleagues. You will drive results through promotional and Omni selling initiatives and ensure high-level customer satisfaction, merchandising, and brand loyalty. Under the supervision of a People Leader, you will communicate expectations and priorities to our colleagues.

Full‑time colleagues are scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week; part‑time colleagues are scheduled 12–24 hours per week. Hours are dependent on business needs and colleague availability.

• Fulfill customer orders, merchandise, process new products, or supervise the selling floor to deliver exceptional customer service.
• Lead colleagues in the execution and completion of assigned tasks.
• Act as an advocate for the customer; model and provide fast feedback to improve the customer experience.
• Maintain high levels of customer service through problem‑solving and customer‑focused resolutions.
• Enhance the in‑store experience by promoting the Macy’s mobile app.
• Meet with People Leaders throughout the day to plan and monitor total store activities.
• Provide continuous feedback to People Leaders that improves customer experience and processes.
• Perform store opening and closing procedures, including accessing the alarm system and settling the registers.
• Ensure adherence to best‑in‑class merchandise standards.
• Educate colleagues on point‑of‑sale technology, radio frequency equipment, and applications for selling and order fulfillment.
• Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships with colleagues, customers, and communities.

• Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays with regular, dependable attendance.
• Proficient in communicating effectively with customers and providing clear direction to colleagues.
• Self‑starter who adapts quickly to changing customer expectations and needs.
• Resourceful and able to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
• 1–2 years of direct retail experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Lifting, constant moving, standing, and reaching with arms and hands.
• Standing for at least two consecutive hours; lifting up to 50 lbs.; stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
• Reaching above eye level and using color vision.
• Frequent use of computers and handheld equipment, the cash register, and processing register transactions.
