Overview
This role supports both Default Operations and Accounting functions, with a primary focus on governance, control enhancement, visibility, oversight, and quality control of corporate advance reconciliation activities. The position works closely with third‑party vendors performing accounting‑related tasks and ensures accuracy, compliance, and adherence to established standards. While this role does not perform hands‑on accounting, accounts payable, or accounts receivable work, it plays a critical quality control and oversight function for these processes.
Key Responsibilities- Perform governance oversight and quality control on corporate advance reconciliations completed by offshore partners, identifying out‑of‑balance items, resolving discrepancies, and supporting decision‑making.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to review issues, process changes, and operational updates.
- Collaborate with offshore vendor management teams to monitor performance and ensure adherence to standards.
- Support accounts payable/receivable processes by receiving, logging, and tracking third‑party checks (minimal processing required).
- Conduct daily and monthly account reconciliations, including subservicing advance accounts and related bank accounts.
- Analyze financial data to reconcile bank balances against loan accounting records.
- Investigate and resolve variances, document findings, and track corrective actions.
- Research discrepancies causing out‑of‑balance conditions and provide resolutions.
- Coordinate with third parties to obtain missing documentation needed to clear transactions in a timely manner.
- Monitor recoverable advance balances and support clearing activities, including wire preparation.
- Track receivables and incentive payments from government agencies and related entities.
- Assist in the analysis and reporting of servicing advance portfolios.
- Perform quantitative analysis to identify recovery opportunities and trends.
- Deliver ad‑hoc reporting and support business‑driven data requests.
- Maintain and update procedural documentation; support cross‑training initiatives.
- Identify and elevate risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and operational standards.
- Quality assurance and governance experience.
- Mortgage servicing (especially default servicing).
- Reconciliations and account analysis.
- Loan servicing systems knowledge (MSP preferred).
- Accounts payable/receivable exposure.
- Corporate advance experience.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- 3-5 years of experience in financial services, mortgage servicing, or accounting‑related roles.
- Experience in default servicing environments preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $36.00/hr.
