FVHD Architects is a leading architecture firm, headquartered in Ewing Township, NJ and is currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Specifications Writer.

Responsibilities- Maintain, edit, and establish new standard specifications sections.
- Communicate effectively with the project team and consultants.
- Maintain the in‑house library of manufacturer’s products and systems.
- Review construction documents to establish material selection and prepare technical project specifications.
- Perform a QA/QC review of project documentation, redline construction documents prior to the project bid advertisement to minimize change orders.
- Provide technical guidance through the construction document phase.
- Review the architectural and consultant contract drawings and other related materials to write and refine technical specifications in accordance with FVHD standards.
- Review consultant technical specifications to ensure alignment with FVHD standards.
- Prepare addenda during the project bidding period to clarify and modify the bid documents in accordance with NJ bidding law requirements.
- Assist with scheduling lunch & learn seminars with manufacturer representatives to educate the technical staff about new and current products and systems.
- Schedule and meet with manufacturer’s representatives to understand material and system changes and updates in the industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in editing / writing architectural specifications.
- Thorough understanding of building construction materials, methods, assemblies, systems, details, codes and construction techniques.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiar with the current IBC building code.
- Licensed Architect is preferred.
- CSI certified is preferred.
