As a Consulting Director, Environmental Permitting Specialist
, you’ll be the cornerstone of ERM’s growth in New Jersey
. You will:
- Drive strategic business development and expand our Impact Assessment & Planning (IAP) service area.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on complex permitting projects under NJDEP’s Division of Land Resource Protection (DLRP).
- Build and mentor a high‑performing technical team, fostering collaboration and innovation.
- Influence the success of major capital projects for utilities and renewable energy initiatives across the state.
Required:
- BS/MS in environmental studies, natural resources, planning, geography, civil/environmental engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of consulting experience with NJDEP DLRP and multi‑media permitting.
- Proven ability to develop and execute business growth strategies in New Jersey.
- Established relationships with electric and gas utilities and NJDEP DLRP staff.
- Strong technical expertise in environmental permitting and impact assessment.
- Demonstrated success in client relationship management and generating repeat business.
Preferred:
- Professional certifications such as PWS, PE, CEP, AICP.
- Recognized marketplace reputation and positive standing with key regulators.
- Experience with renewable energy projects and large‑scale capital expansions.
- Lead Growth:
Develop and implement strategic plans to expand ERM’s IAP services in New Jersey. - Seller/Doer Role:
Identify opportunities, craft winning proposals, and deliver exceptional consulting services. - Technical Leadership:
Oversee DLRP permitting efforts, ensuring compliance and quality across projects. - Team Development:
Hire, mentor, and inspire a talented technical team to achieve excellence. - Client Engagement:
Deepen relationships with existing clients and establish new partnerships for long‑term success. - Global
Collaboration:
Work with ERM’s worldwide network to share best practices and deliver integrated solutions.
For the Consulting Director, Environmental Permitting Specialist position, the anticipated annual base pay is $151,666–$190,961 (USD). Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
