Controls Engineer to design, program, integrate, and support industrial automation systems in a manufacturing environment. This role will lead controls engineering projects from concept through commissioning, including PLC/HMI development, robotics integration, motion control, electrical design, safety systems, and data acquisition solutions.
Technical Responsibilities- Lead controls engineering projects from concept through commissioning, including system architecture, specifications, and safety design.
- Design control panels, safety circuits, and electrical systems in compliance with NEC, NFPA, OSHA, and RIA standards.
- Review panel fabrication, field wiring, and installation to ensure alignment with design intent and safety requirements.
- Design, program, troubleshoot, and debug PLC and HMI systems utilizing Allen-Bradley and Siemens platforms.
- Integrate, program, and commission industrial robots including FANUC, ABB, KUKA, and Yaskawa.
- Develop HMI and SCADA applications for machine control, process monitoring, and data visualization.
- Design, configure, and tune motion control systems, including VFDs, servo drives, and DC drives.
- Create and maintain electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent design software.
- Perform electrical load calculations and power distribution analysis for automated systems.
- Design and implement data acquisition (DAQ) systems and integrate manufacturing data with SQL databases for reporting and analysis.
- Develop and support data collection applications using C, Visual Basic, and SQL.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve machine performance and reliability.
- Develop and maintain documentation for controls, robotics, electrical systems, and safety functions.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related technical discipline; equivalent industry experience will be considered.
- 1+ years of experience in controls engineering, industrial automation, electrical design, PLC programming, or related manufacturing automation environments.
- Strong PLC programming experience utilizing Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and Function Block programming.
- Experience with controls system architecture, safety systems, and electrical design.
- Hands‑on robotics integration and motion control experience preferred.
- Knowledge of industrial communication networks including Ether Net/IP, Device Net, Profibus, and Modbus.
- Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard engineering software tools.
- Full‑time onsite position.
- Monday through Friday schedule within a manufacturing facility environment.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Green Card Holder.
