Salary Range: $21.00 - $28.00 Hourly

An Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) will be responsible for responding to emergency situations by stabilizing patients prior to taking them to a medical care facility.

EMTs respond to both emergency and non-emergency calls, while providing an appropriate level of care within the EMT scope of practice. This can include lifesaving treatments, monitoring vitals, checking O₂ levels, and handling any situation that comes up.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Non-emergency transportation of patients to hospitals and other medical facilities
  • Driving emergency vehicles safely, responsibly and quickly
  • Being responsible for patient care
  • Must wear and handle personal protective equipment and follow social distancing/CDC guidelines
  • Must be capable of lifting 100-150 pounds
  • Must be capable of working up to 12 hour shifts
Other essential duties and responsibilities for an EMT include:
  • Provide first-aid treatment, such as bandaging wounds
  • Provide basic life support, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), when needed
  • Assess a patient’s conditions and provide initial treatment
  • Determine if a patient needs to be transported to an ER or trauma center
  • Work 12-hour shifts in all weather conditions
  • Communicate with additional dispatch resources such as ALS
  • Documentation of each call, such as timestamps, vitals, and patient condition is essential
  • Ensuring ambulances are fully stocked before and after each shift by conducting a thorough rig check
  • Checking and testing all ambulance equipment before and after each shift, including stretcher, sirens, emergency lights, blinkers, and oxygen
  • Restocking used supplies
  • Checking expiration dates on all supplies and medications
  • Disinfecting ambulances after calls
Regular reasons for transport include:
  • Emergency Room Admissions
  • Transports to and from Dialysis Centers
  • Chemotherapy Appointments
  • Wound Care Appointments
  • General Doctor Appointments
  • Psych Related Admissions/Transfers
  • Discharges

Job Type

Full-time, Part-Time or Per Diem. Weekend and Overnight Available

Pay

$23.00 - $26.00 per hour

Qualifications
  • Be at least 18 years old to treat
  • Be at least 23 years old to drive
  • Have 2 years driving experience
  • Have a Clean Driver License in NJ, PA or NY (Less than 2 At Fault Accidents or moving violations in last 5 years)
  • Defensive Driving Certificate by National Safety Council (Training Paid for & Provided by Life Ride)
  • EMT-B Certification
  • BLS Provider CPR Certificate (Training Paid for & Provided by Life Ride)
