Church & Dwight is seeking an Area Sales Manager to join our team. This role is responsible for representing the Specialty Chemicals business with customers, ensuring customer satisfaction, executing sales and marketing programs, and negotiating sales agreements to deliver the financial goals within a defined geographic territory.
About the RoleThe Midwest Region Area Sales Manager will grow sales with an emphasis on both the territory's base business and on new products. The role reports to the National Sales Manager.
Work EnvironmentRemote: This role is performed on a remote basis. Occasional attendance at in-person meetings required as business needs dictate.
Role Accountabilities and ResponsibilitiesManage Sales activity within a defined geographic territory (Midwest - ideally based in Chicago, IL)
Develop and execute territory call plans
Develop and execute negotiation plans and key account objectives.
With strong collaboration skills, coordinate and orchestrate the internal and external resources required to meet key account objectives
Conduct and finalize contract negotiations.
Develop and document all customer proposals and contracts
- Manage customer pricing input to ensure accurate invoicing
- Maintain accurate customer and prospecting data within CRM (Salesforce) system.
- Provide input to Sales KPI process for the territory to ensure sales targets are tracked and measured against plan.
- Leverage customer profitability metrics to ensure margin objectives are met
- Provide accurate and timely information on competitive activity.
- Develop and manage target account lists and objectives
- Travel up to 75% throughout Midwest Region, USA.
- Manage key customer relationships to ensure appropriate levels of service and customer satisfaction
- Strong written and verbal skills and the ability to make professional presentations and proposals to both internal management and with customers.
- Must be well organized and detail oriented.
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong problem analysis and resolution skills as well as financial and analytical proficiency.
- Strong computer skills including MS Office.
Salesforce, Power
BI skills a plus. - Must have the ability to study, identify, understand, prioritize, plan and clearly articulate market and customer requirements - even when only partial data exists.
- BA/BS degree from an accredited academic institution.
- 10 years' sales experience required with 5 or more years' experience in the specialty chemical market. Experience in the Food Industry and Nutritional Supplements is a plus.
- Proven track record of achieving top and bottom-line growth results and proactively accomplishing assigned goals and objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strategic customer relationships, handle multiple priorities and work in a self-directed manner.
