A Plastic Injection Molding Machine Operator sets up, runs, and monitors machinery to produce plastic parts, ensuring high‑quality output and proper adherence to production schedules. The role involves inspecting finished parts for defects, trimming excess material (degating), maintaining a safe, clean equipment environment, and performing basic troubleshooting to meet production quotas.
Core Responsibilities- Operate injection molding machines in automatic or semi‑automatic modes, monitoring and adjusting settings (temperature, pressure, cycle time) as needed.
- Perform in‑process visual and gauge inspections of parts to ensure compliance with specifications, identifying defects such as flash or warping.
- Load and remove inserts, clean molds, remove flash, and grind runners during production setup and finishing.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area (5S), perform routine preventive maintenance, and report safety hazards.
- Accurately fill out production reports, including cycle times, scrap rates, and downtime.
