Clark Wood is working with a large, reputable independent firm of chartered accountants in Exeter that is looking for an Accounts Senior or Assistant Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Manage a varied portfolio of clients by preparing and reviewing annual accounts, tax computations, VAT returns, and forecasts.
• Work closely with businesses, offering practical advice and identifying planning opportunities.
• Conduct client site visits, attend local events, and become a trusted point of contact within the community.
• Review bookkeeping work, ensure accounting records are accurate and up to date, and draft correspondence for clients and HMRC.
• Handle capital taxes such as inheritance tax and capital gains tax.
• Support the development of junior colleagues, maintaining high standards of service.

Qualifications:

• Qualified or nearing qualification in AAT, ACA, ACCA, or qualified by experience.
• Experience in accounts preparation and tax compliance within practice.
• Methodical approach, strong technical skills, and a personable, professional manner.
• Experience with agricultural clients is highly beneficial but not essential.
