Compensation: $7,300-$9,600 annual compensation for this position is based on relevant education and experience and will be set within the listed range.
Schedule: 8-10 hours per week during the Academic Year while school is in session, hours vary depending on class schedule and student availability. Routine evening and occasional weekend hours may be required. Schedule may vary according to departmental and Academy needs.

Position PurposeLend support to the school's Religious and Spiritual Life department and PEA community.
Key Accountabilities- The Instructor serves as a resource for the community towards a broad working understanding of Buddhism, with attention given to both the differences existing between Buddhist sects and the similarities among them.
- The Instructor collaborates with members of the Religion, Philosophy, and Ethics department and its students as a resource in the teaching of Buddhism.
- Conduct one-on-one conversations, primarily with students and secondarily with adults from our community, as needed.
- Participate in routine meetings with the Director and other members of the Religious and Spiritual Life staff, to be scheduled at the convenience and availability of those involved.

Internal & External ContactsFrequent contact with students, Dean of Students office, PEA administrative and academic offices, faculty, coaches, and staff. External contacts may include parents, outside organizations, visitors and local community neighbors.
Position RequirementsEducation
Experience
- Must be a knowledgeable practitioner of Buddhism.
- Event planning experience preferred.
- Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting preferred.

- Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with students by building trust and credibility.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills as well as a strong customer focus.

- Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Willingness and ability to learn additional applications as needed.
- High degree of organizational skills with the ability to be flexible and multi-task with accuracy.
- Ability to follow verbal and written directions, maintain a professional demeanor and restraint at all times, including stressful situations.

- Successfully complete a criminal background check (reviewed every 5 years).
- Clean Driving record (reviewed annually).
