Position: CMM Programmer (Newington, Rochester or Exeter, NH)

Job Overview

The CMM Programmer is responsible for developing, troubleshooting, and maintaining CMM and gauge inspection programs for components ranging from simple to highly complex. This role supports inspection operations, equipment maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives while collaborating cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams. The position plays a key role in ensuring inspection accuracy, process optimization, and adherence to company quality standards.

This is a direct-hire position.

Responsibilities
  • Develop new and modify existing CMM/Gauge inspection programs using 3D CAD models and engineering drawings for components of varying complexity.
  • Design and implement custom operator prompts to enhance usability and operator interaction.
  • Perform prove-outs of inspection programs to identify and resolve navigational and computational errors.
  • Conduct Gauge Repeatability & Reproducibility (GR&R) studies and correlation analysis with mechanical and automated inspection systems.
  • Communicate inspection results through reports, including graphical analysis and SPC data, to support process improvements and engineering decisions.
  • Create and maintain inspection documentation, including CMM reports, GR&R reports, and correlation reports.
  • Provide feedback to engineering regarding drawing improvements, manufacturability, and gauge design alternatives.
  • Support and perform mechanical inspection and verification of components using available inspection equipment.
  • Train and mentor junior programmers and inspectors on CMM programming, inspection techniques, and best practices.
  • Manage CMM stylus systems, including assembly, calibration, replacement, and optimization.
  • Perform troubleshooting of CMM hardware and software issues and coordinate with vendors or customer support when needed.
  • Identify, design, and manage fixturing solutions for component work holding during inspection.
  • Establish and maintain programming standards, best practices, and ISO-compliant procedures.
  • Assist in specifying, procuring, and installing new CMM/gauge equipment.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for internal and external quality issues.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives and support 5S workplace organization activities.
  • Follow all company ISO procedures, safety standards, and operational guidelines.
  • Maintain regular attendance and flexibility to support overtime or alternate shifts as needed.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required;
    Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality, or related engineering field preferred.
  • 3–5+ years of experience as a CMM Programmer using automated inspection software.
  • 3–6+ years of experience in mechanical inspection or related quality role preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME Y14.5 (GD&T) standards (Technologist-level certification or equivalent preferred).
  • Experience with CMM software such as Calypso, PC-DMIS, Modus, ATOS, or similar platforms.
  • AUKOM certification (Level 1 or higher) preferred.
  • Basic proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SOLIDWORKS) preferred.
  • Experience with SPC and quality data analysis tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and relevant program management tools.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
