Production Operator
Phoenix Tailings is looking for a Production Operator to join our Exeter team and help run the metal refining equipment that powers our production process. This role is central to turning Phoenix Tailings’ technology into real‑world output, supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient production of critical metals needed for the technologies of today and tomorrow. The position follows a rotating 12‑hour shift schedule, working 3 days one week and 4 days the following week.
Responsibilities- Operate rare earth metal refining equipment across production runs, including equipment start‑up, shutdown, monitoring, material handling, and routine adjustments to support safe and consistent output.
- Monitor process conditions, equipment performance, product quality, and production data throughout each shift, identifying deviations and responding quickly to keep operations on track.
- Perform hands‑on production tasks such as loading raw materials, transferring in‑process materials, collecting samples, cleaning equipment, preparing work areas, and supporting changeovers between runs.
- Troubleshoot basic equipment or process issues, elevate concerns when needed, and provide clear feedback from the production floor to improve procedures, reliability, safety, and throughput.
- Maintain accurate production records while following all safety, environmental, housekeeping, and operating procedures for working around industrial equipment, chemicals, metals, and high‑temperature systems.
- 1‑5 years of experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, ideally in metal refining, chemical processing, furnace operations, thermal processing, or a similar hands‑on production environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with industrial equipment such as pumps, valves, piping, controls, furnaces, material handling systems, or production machinery.
- Ability to follow detailed operating procedures, document work accurately, recognize abnormal equipment or process conditions, and communicate issues clearly.
- Comfortable working in a physically active production environment, including standing for extended periods, lifting materials, wearing required PPE, and supporting shift‑based operations.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, reliability, and continuous improvement in a fast‑paced environment where production systems are scaling quickly.
