Position SummaryThe Mechanical/Dimensional Inspector I is responsible for performing routine mechanical inspections per technical documentation, using pre‑trained methods to determine product acceptability. This role operates with moderate independence, consulting with internal team members in a collaborative team environment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities- Collect and review inspection data to ensure component integrity and investigate and resolve discrepancies found during part inspection.
- Locate appropriate programs, load components into inspection equipment, run basic inspection programs, and report results.
- Identify features for inspection and correctly assign dimensional values and tolerances specified in print to a given feature.
- Contribute to primary areas of inspection for which training has been provided.
- Communicate effectively with supervision verbally and in writing regarding problems and corrective action.
- Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
- Follow all required safety and ISO procedures.
- Maintain regular on‑site attendance and punctuality.
- May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
- May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent, related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. No previous quality experience is required.
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Basic proficiency in blueprint reading.
- Familiarity with GD&T symbology per ASME Y14.5.
- Fluent in setting up simple parts and understanding the proper use of basic mechanical inspection equipment.
- Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form.
- Strong time‑management skills.
- Regularly perform repetitive tasks.
- Work is primarily standing (90 %+ of the shift) except for lunch and break periods.
- Shifts are 8, 10, and 12 hours.
- Exposure to a typical manufacturing environment, with frequent standing, sitting, stooping/squatting, walking, stair climbing, and lifting/moving of tooling and parts up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently (minimum 50 % of the shift), and perform repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
- Must demonstrate proficient fine‑motor skills and the ability to use tools to torque fixtures in machinery or during assembly, machining, or testing of parts.
- Specific vision abilities required may include close and distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and focus on fine print.
- Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) where required.
- Must comply with all work‑exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. security mandates.
