Truck Build Technician - England Wrecker Sales

The Truck Build Technician at New England Truck Center - New England Wrecker Sales works collaboratively to fabricate, weld, and assemble truck parts and components based on pre‑designed and custom layouts. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of truck components and repair, including routine servicing, computer-aided diagnostics, vehicle electronics, and air brake and hydraulic repairs. The Technician is also responsible for maintaining clear build and repair records, ensuring a clean work area, and effectively communicating with team members.

We are hiring for our Exeter, NH location. Compensation is hourly $25–$40 per hour based on experience, with earnings potential up to $100,000 per year. The best candidate will have knowledge of heavy‑duty diesel trucks, welding, 12 V electrical accessories and lighting, hydraulics, diesel mechanics, and some body work.

• Fabricate and weld as required per pre‑planned design and customized layouts and repairs
• Build custom structures by cutting, bending, and assembling pieces
• Read and understand instructions, blueprints, drawings, and schematics
• Work as a team to assemble all components and elements of a truck, including installation of chassis, legal lighting, bumpers, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems
• Conduct diagnostic tests on diesel vehicles and replace components as necessary, including engine, transmission, steering mechanism, and braking system
• Develop comprehensive work plans after fully diagnosing vehicle issues
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, wheel balancing, alignment, and brake checks
• Maintain accurate records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles
• Communicate effectively and professionally with team members and customers
• Manage time effectively and pay close attention to detail when documenting information
• Perform any other duties as assigned

• Comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
• Basic knowledge of computer systems and other relevant electronics
• Good interpersonal skills and effective communication skills
• A valid driver’s license (CDL‑A or CDL‑B, without automatic transmission restrictions)

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certification and training in welding, and diesel engine repair a plus
• Advanced knowledge of vehicles, their electrical systems, and the mechanisms of gas and diesel engines
• Proficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic software
