Software Engineer, AI & Agentic Systems

About this Role:

In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain AI-powered applications and agentic systems that enhance Propensity’s omnichannel ABM platform. You will work on integrating large language models (LLMs), AI workflows, automation agents, and intelligent data orchestration into customer‑facing and internal tools.

This role combines traditional software engineering with modern AI development, including generative AI applications, prompt engineering, retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), agentic workflows, and scalable API integrations. You will collaborate cross‑functionally with Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Go‑To‑Market teams to deliver innovative AI‑driven solutions that improve automation, campaign execution, and customer outcomes.

• Hybrid schedule 1 day in office in NH and 4 days remote.
• Design and develop AI‑powered applications, automation workflows, and agentic systems within the Propensity platform
• Develop scalable backend services and APIs to support AI features, orchestration layers, and intelligent workflows
• Implement and optimize integrations with large language models (LLMs) and AI providers such as OpenAI, Claude, ChatGPT, Anthropic, or open‑source models
• Design prompt engineering frameworks and multi‑step agent workflows to automate complex business processes
• Write, test, debug, and maintain high‑quality production code across backend and frontend systems
• Optimize software performance, scalability, observability, and security across AI and non‑AI systems
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements, prototype AI solutions, and deliver scalable production‑ready applications
• Document technical architecture, AI workflows, integrations, and engineering standards
• Stay current with emerging AI technologies, frameworks, and best practices and help drive AI innovation across the organization

• Strong proficiency in Ruby and/or Python
• Experience building AI‑powered applications or integrating LLM APIs
• Experience with agentic workflows, AI orchestration frameworks, or autonomous systems
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, Graph
  
  QL APIs, and modern web services
• Experience with prompt engineering, RAG architectures, vector databases, or semantic search
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP

• Understanding of software scalability, security, and distributed systems
• Ability to prioritize effectively and provide timely project updates in a fast‑paced startup environment
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills

• Experience building production AI applications using OpenAI, Anthropic, Lang Chain, Llama Index, or similar frameworks
• Experience developing agentic AI systems and workflow automation tools
• Experience with AI observability, evaluation frameworks, and model optimization
• Experience deploying AI applications in production cloud environments
• Familiarity with MLOps, model lifecycle management, or fine‑tuning workflows
• Experience working in high‑growth startup environments
• Ability to identify gaps, improve processes, and drive technical innovation independently
• Strong curiosity around emerging AI technologies and practical business applications
