We support the Job Corps program’s mission to teach eligible young people the skills they need to become employable and independent and place them in meaningful jobs or further education. Our center specializes in Culinary Arts, Welding/Construction, Electronics Engineering, and Certified Medical Assistant training.

Position SummaryThis role is responsible for the direction, oversight and management of the Academics, Career Technical Training, Counseling, Career Preparation and Work‑Based Learning departments/functions and related programs and activities. Ensures student progress, achievement and completion of the Job Corps program, along with placement upon program completion. The Programs Manager ensures students are provided with industry‑recognized training and credentials leading to full‑time jobs, higher education, apprenticeships or advanced training.
This role also ensures a clean, safe and secure learning environment. May provide extended training opportunities while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information and student data. Supervises the Programs Department and staff (approximately 3 direct reports and 20 indirect reports). This role is second in command at the Job Corps center and may assume the Center Director role when the Director is not on site.
- Provide students with educational and career technical training leading to academic and career technical training completions
- Provide students with a career transition program that prepares them for quality placements
- Provide comprehensive and individualized case management to ensure progress, achievement, and timely placements
- Ensure the Center meets or exceeds DOL/Company performance goals
- Ensure high‑quality career preparation, counseling, academic, career technical training and work‑based learning programming and instruction
- Maintain an organized, clean, safe environment conducive to learning
- Ensure Programs staff effectively utilize and follow the Center’s behavior management system
- Motivate and empower staff to perform responsibilities; manage time and delegation effectively
- Hold staff accountable for quality work; support career progression and disciplinary actions as needed
- Fill staff vacancies in a timely manner; interviews, hiring recommendations, terminations and performance evaluations for Employability & Training Departments
- Provide required/supplemental training for new and current employees
- Collaborate with Career Transition staff to identify quality job opportunities for students
- Work with Administration Director and E&T Manager to identify and review Career Technical Skill training projects
- Develop center‑beneficial community linkages for enrollment, education, employment, career technical training, WBL and placement
- Promote a positive image of the Center and establish relationships with elected officials
