Position Summary: The Head Nurse serves as the primary clinical resource for students/residents, families, staff, and healthcare providers in a residential and educational setting. The Head Nurse is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all health services, providing healthcare to students and staff, promoting overall wellness, and ensuring a safe and healthy environment. Responsibilities include managing student health needs, responding to emergencies, supervising nursing staff, ensuring compliance with regulations, developing policies, and promoting the physical and emotional well‑being of students and residents.
Program duties include developing individualized care plans, assessing behavioral health and substance use needs, providing treatment and referral services, and offering medical case management oversight for South County Academy programs. The Head Nurse will also develop and execute student group curriculum to promote healthy lifestyles and public health education and provide emergency crisis interventions and clinical treatment as needed.
Qualifications- RN licensed in the state of RI.
- Experience in a residential healthcare setting, preferably in care management.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience working with children, adolescents, and adults from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
- Skilled in operating medical record software and related computer systems.
- Spanish speaking preferred (compensated).
- Excellent multitasking and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Bilingual/ASL skills compensated with an additional 6% above base pay.
- Multilingual skills compensated with an additional 8% above base pay.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, registration, and auto insurance.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to travel between community locations and office site, including walking, using stairs and elevators.
- Capable of lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Provide emergency coverage as required by the programs.
- Work remotely and in person while adhering to PHI requirements.
