Renewables Assessor – Solar PV & Storage
LocationSouth West:
Exeter, Torquay, Plymouth, Tavistock
Self‑employed: 1–2 days per week, £330 per day / £165 per half day.
Responsibilities- Work from home and manage your own territory carrying out MCS assessments on Solar PV and Battery Storage (EESS) installations.
- Ensure contractors and installers comply with the expected codes of practice.
- Carry out assessments for registered engineers, installers and contractors.
- Evaluate the work and resources of applicants looking to join the scheme.
- Build ongoing relationships with applicants, contractors and professional bodies.
- Produce detailed reports as required.
- Hold an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Solar Photovoltaic (PV) and Electrical Energy Storage Systems (EESS) technologies.
- Strong understanding of renewable energy installations, related codes of practice and the MCS scheme.
- Membership with IET, IEE or CIBSE (or equivalent) is of significant interest.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heat Pump technologies is desirable for extra work days.
- Personable and able to build relationships.
- Confident in writing reports.
- Full UK driving licence essential.
- Self‑employed role, payment £330 per day / £165 per half day.
- Expense travel over 70 miles each way.
- Expense accommodation when needed.
- Flexible schedule to fit around your own business and workload.
