Overview

Electrical Technician – Exeter | Monday - Friday | 40 Hours per Week

W Talent is partnering with a rapidly growing organisation within the renewable energy sector to recruit an experienced Electrical Technician for its Energy Recovery Facility in Exeter.

This role involves maintaining critical plant infrastructure that supports sustainable energy generation. The Role

Reporting to the Electrical Engineer, the Electrical Technician will be responsible for carrying out planned, preventative and reactive electrical maintenance to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the facility. Working as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team, you will diagnose faults, complete repairs, support continuous improvement initiatives and help maximise plant availability while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned, preventative and reactive electrical maintenance across the plant.
  • Diagnose and rectify electrical faults to minimise downtime.
  • Complete maintenance activities safely, efficiently and in accordance with site procedures.
  • Conduct routine plant and safety inspections.
  • Record all maintenance activities accurately using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Support contractor supervision and collaborate with other engineering disciplines when required.
  • Prepare and follow risk assessments and method statements.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant reliability and performance.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping and compliance with all Health, Safety and Environmental procedures.
  • Provide support to the Electrical Engineer when required.
About You

We re looking for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician with a proactive approach to fault finding, preventative maintenance and continuous improvement.

Essential Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electro-Technical Installations (or equivalent).
  • Alternatively, City & Guilds 2365-2 (Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installations) or City & Guilds 2357-3 (Level 3 Diploma in Electrotechnology).
  • City & Guilds 2382 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations or equivalent).
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Recognised electrical apprenticeship with relevant post-apprenticeship industrial experience.
Essential Experience & Skills
  • Experience carrying out electrical maintenance within a fast-paced manufacturing, production, process, power generation or heavy engineering environment.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Good understanding of preventative and proactive maintenance strategies, including condition monitoring.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A sound understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and safe systems of work.
Desirable
  • Experience operating under Permit to Work (PTW) systems.
  • High Voltage (HV) switching experience or competency.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
  • Experience working on High Voltage systems up to 33kV.
  • Additional City & Guilds qualifications such as 2391/2394/2395.
