We are in an extraordinary position and are looking for the VP, Platform Business Development to bridge strategy and execution across revenue generation; business development; new market development; developer relations; sales operations; and the scaling of the incubating Platform business in Bentley, collaborating closely with the Chief Platform Officer. The ideal candidate has proven success driving market-visible business outcomes; communicating to a breadth of stakeholders;

and thriving in ambiguity.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic guidance to a top-notch business development team with existing market traction and YoY growth well into double digits.
  • Contribute to the market adoption strategy; revenue growth plan; and product packaging and pricing in collaboration with leadership
  • Align day-to-day business development execution to the strategy, including
    • Outbound capture teams for marquee opportunities
    • Inbound enterprise deals for self-hosted and cloud-based products
    • Selective services to advance our roadmap; deepen relationships; and support licenses
  • Lead annual strategy sessions to scale core revenue streams across commercial, federal, and Japan. Encourage the team to be strategic and explore different revenue segmentations and emerging markets to glean new insights
  • Provide guidance and accountability of quarterly revenue goals
  • Design/document the customer journey lifecycle
  • Authentic leadership and people management for about 14 amazing colleagues including two Directors with people management responsibilities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally within the Platform organization to enable transparent and productive communication across BD, PM, Engineering, and Communications
    • PM – BD supports ensuring our roadmap is market relevant, helping us win adoption and revenue
    • Engineering – BD collaborates on planning and execution of roadmap-aligned services
    • Communications – Our communications is not traditional top-of-the-funnel lead generation; instead, it relies on authentic education and high-value content to create and earn a trusted and loved brand – a “movement” according to some. BD collaborates with Communications for market-specific material; trade shows; and to tell our value proposition by amplifying the stories of the community
  • Liaison with other organizations in Bentley
    • Ecosystem & Ventures to expand Platform partnerships
    • Account Advancement Group to expand Platform business in marquee Bentley accounts
    • Bentley Japan to expand Platform business in Japan
  • Support the transformation of Bentley Systems from a product company to a platform and product company
  • This role reports directly to the Chief Platform Officer.
  • Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer (or any other physical requirements).
Qualifications
  • Proven business experience in geospatial, civil engineering, federal, and/or Japan
  • Exceptional communication in writing and in person. Ability to communicate to a breadth of stakeholders, including executives, engineers, and community members
  • Leadership skills with proven business outcomes. The ability to earn stakeholder buy-in and facilitate execution with the right level of visibility
  • Adaptable, humble, and always learning. Proven capable of working through steep learning curves
  • BS or MS in a related field or equivalent experience. MBA preferred
  • Post merger business scaling integration experience preferred
