Job Title

• Design and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction that develops students' critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity.
• Establish a classroom environment where all students feel valued, challenged, and supported.
• Integrate real-world applications and interdisciplinary connections to support authentic learning and transfer.
• Use culturally responsive instructional strategies that honor students' identities, experiences, and perspectives.
• Use formative and summative assessment to monitor student progress and adjust instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
• Communicate effectively with families and caregivers as partners in student learning.
• Engage in continuous professional learning aligned to district priorities and instructional best practices.
• Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administrators to improve instruction and student outcomes.
• Maintain accurate records related to instruction, assessment, and student progress.
• Uphold district policies, professional ethics, and Pennsylvania Department of Education requirements.
• Contribute positively to the school community and district culture.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred
• Possession of a valid Pennsylvania teaching certification appropriate to assignment OR the ability to obtain necessary emergency certification based on the district's needs
• Demonstrated commitment to equity-centered teaching and continuous improvement
• Strong instructional planning, classroom management, and communication skills

• This position is a 10 month position.
• This position is represented by West Chester Area Education Association. The collective bargaining agreement for WCASD and WCAEA is available here.
• Starting salaries are determined based on relevant experience, education, and internal equity, and are generally set below the midpoint of the salary range.

Between January and March each year, prospective teacher applicants are welcome to apply for eligibility pools to be hired for WCASD for the upcoming school year. These individuals will go through a centralized screening process to then be placed on our eligibility list for school-based hiring. Individuals need not apply for eligibility for every content area listed. Instead, individuals can simply apply once and indicate their interest in various eligibility pools through the application process.

Current Long Term Substitues–and all individuals who have been Long Term Substitutes for the past three years–will automatically be considered eligible.
