Summary

Plan, organize and implement appropriate instructional practices and strategies to develop students' skills in music. Lead students in theory and application of music concepts; encourage students to develop a curiosity and understanding of the world of music through experiences. Serve as primary staff responsible for the Performing Arts Center (PAC) in supporting performing groups (both internal and external) as well as supporting the growth and development of performing arts programs within CCS.

This description encompasses the responsibilities, qualifications, skills, and abilities for a position that is .5 FTE music teacher and .5 Performing Arts Center Coordinator.

Teacher
  • Develops and administers CCS curriculum consistent with CCS goals and objectives
  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed
  • Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents
  • Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by CCS
  • Enforces the CCS Student Code of Conduct, the CCS Uniform Code, and the CCS Computer Usage Code
  • Promotes good citizenship through actions as a role model
  • Conducts themself according to professional, ethical principles that reflect favorably upon the individual and the school
  • Maintains highest level of confidentiality pertaining to school and students' information, progress, and records
  • Assumes other responsibilities assigned by supervisor and/or school administrator
  • Abides by the CCS Employee Handbook, CCS policies and procedures, and all current PA Public School expectations
PAC Coordinator
  • Serves as liaison with internal and/or external departments/groups by making calls on the groups.
  • Encourages membership in national, regional, and local organizations providing services to the arts and presenting organizations, and when possible, serves on boards and committees of these organizations.
  • Maintains calendar.
  • Remains current on new developments in the areas of performing arts center software, hardware, networks, telecommunications, training and maintenance.
  • Collaborates with in-district users, public renters, professional designers and directors providing for their technical needs for the purpose of supporting program development and facilitating school, district and community performing arts programs.
  • Collaborates with band and choral directors for scheduling and other functions as necessary. Trains, supervises, and monitors the work of students, assistants for the purpose of providing technical education in a safe environment.
  • Responsible for box office; front-of-house, auditorium, rehearsal and storage areas.
  • Responsible for Collegium's Center Stage Theater (CCST);
    Utilizes stakeholder feedback to select performances, supervises supplemental staff, organizes and supervises volunteers, coordinates with building admin to support student performers.
  • Present at all functions to provide on-the-spot supervision; to assist in providing contract obligations to performers; and, to ensure set-up completion and proper handling of audience.
  • Develops and administers all educational/outreach programs for the PAC.
  • Serves as contact for educational opportunities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
