This Opportunity

WSP is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer for our Philadelphia, Exton, or Bristol, PA offices. The candidate will be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact
  • Perform water resources engineering work and analyses relating to stormwater, dams, hydraulic structures and surface water management consistent with applicable regulations and design standards.
  • Utilize advanced analytical techniques to solve complex technical problems.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for stormwater infrastructure design, dam breach studies, and floodplain mapping.
  • Prepare watershed studies, floodplain studies, and evaluate regulated impoundment structures for compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct conceptual through detailed hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support stormwater and watershed planning.
  • Interpret data and prepare visualizations as tables, charts, and figures to present findings.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations that explain findings, and recommendations.
  • Design bioretention systems, green roofs, permeable pavements, stormwater ponds, manufactured treatment devices, and underground detention facilities.
  • Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
  • Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients confidently and professionally.
  • Assist with development and scoping of projects.
  • Participate in proposal preparation and marketing activities.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams to advance technical discussions, support project delivery, and ensure cross‑functional coordination.
  • Lead and coordinate technical tasks with project team members.
  • Assist in developing schedules and objectives for the project and for field staff.
  • Maintain and expand technical knowledge in current water resources practices.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and manage tasks on cross‑functional teams for timely and efficient completion.
  • Demonstrate high‑level skills in software and applications to solve complex problems.
  • Provide guidance and training to entry‑level engineers, fostering their professional growth.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering or closely related discipline.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant post‑education experience in water resources.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer, with ability to acquire additional states as needed.
  • Well‑developed knowledge of water resources engineering principles, practices, processes, design/build, and the application to environmental permitting and project work‑related issues.
  • Well‑developed knowledge of Hydrology & Hydraulics Design, Watershed Studies, Floodplain Delineation, Stormwater Management, Drainage, Erosion and Sediment Control.
  • Proficient ability to coordinate with agency regulators and understand requirements.
  • Experience supporting stormwater, dam, levee, and related heavy civil projects.
  • Perform and review work products developed and prepared by junior staff, including inspections and preparing reports in conformance with state or federal regulatory guidelines.
  • Demonstrated experience with flood hydrology, dam monitoring and instrumentation, dam operations, and risk assessment.
  • Review and supervise development of the following: hydraulic, geotechnical, and structural design calculations, modeling studies, engineering drawings, reports, project standards and specifications, quantity take‑offs, engineering cost estimates, and permit applications for projects involving hydraulic structures.
  • Facilitate, direct, and/or perform field visits, site reconnaissance, and/or dam inspection services as dictated by project requirements.
  • Ability to make technical computations and calculations involving the application of engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations.
