The Quality Department Summer Intern will work closely with the technical team and cross functionally within the AGCCA organization to gain practical knowledge and contribute to real-world projects. This position works on site primarily in our Thorndale, PA, but will sometimes work in our Exton, PA office. Housing and relocation are not offered.
Essential Functions and projects:
- Validation of a new powder flow analyzer for use in QC laboratory testing, including data collection, analysis, and documentation support
- Development and initial rollout support for a digital and/or AI-enabled solution for process manufacturing reporting to improve data accessibility and consistency
- Testing of incoming raw materials to verify supplier certificates of analysis (COAs), supporting supplier quality assurance efforts and product manufacturing efficiencies
- Participation in quality complaint investigation activities as part of structured training, including supervised exposure to analytical instrumentation such as:
- Optical microscopy
- Scanning electron microscopy (SEM)
- Energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis
- Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR)
- Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC)
- Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA)
- Physical properties testing equipment
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate Material, Chemical, or Chemical Engineering degree at an accredited college/university, Junior and Senior level required. Senior level preferred
- Basic understanding of chemistry and laboratory equipment
- Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Proficient in Excel / Word / PowerPoint / MS Office
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative
- Self-motivated, a team player who is enthusiastic
- Precise hand movements to operate instruments, handle chemicals, and manipulate small samples
- Ability to manipulate small tools and equipment with precision
- Standing for extended periods while performing experiments and monitoring equipment
- May need to lift and carry containers or supplies up to 40 lbs
- Sharp vision, including the ability to distinguish colors, is essential for precisely reading measurements and recognizing substances
- Ability to hear alarms and other audible cues from equipment.
- Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access office machinery, accomplish tasks, or travel from one worksite to another.
