This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Project Finance & Controls Analyst for any of our New Jersey or Pennsylvania offices.

Be involved in projects with our Project Delivery and Operations Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze project financial performance, including key metrics, variances, and risks, and highlight issues requiring attention from project managers and business leaders.
  • Serve as a proactive business partner to project managers from proposal through closeout, providing guidance on financial controls, revenue planning, and commercial compliance.
  • Lead financial and commercial reviews for high‑risk, large‑value, or alternative‑delivery projects, documenting risks, mitigation actions, and required follow‑up.
  • Participate in pricing reviews to ensure proposed fees, budgets, and financial targets are achievable and aligned with business strategy.
  • Review contracts, subcontracts, amendments, purchase orders, and change orders, with a focus on compensation structures, financial impacts, and commercial terms.
  • Support and monitor adherence to project management processes related to financial controls, risk management, and overall compliance.
  • Identify projects requiring corrective action; assist project managers with developing recovery plans and monitor progress toward margin preservation.
  • Provide training and guidance to project managers on financial tools, project accounting processes, and best practices for managing profitable engagements.
  • Demonstrate responsible stewardship of company funds and ensure all activities comply with WSP’s Code of Conduct and internal financial policies.
  • Perform additional duties assigned to support business needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, engineering, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in project accounting, financial analysis, project finance, and/or project management within a professional services or corporate environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis) and solid working knowledge of the full Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with project financial responsibilities, including cost analysis, budget set‑up, revenue tracking, invoicing/AR support, and financial performance reporting.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain financial concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify financial risks and support development of appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Ability to adhere to WSP’s standards for professional ethics, compliance, workplace safety, and conduct.
  • Ability to work schedules that align with project or business demands, which may occasionally extend beyond a typical workweek.
  • Occasional travel required based on project or business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with enterprise project management or financial systems (e.g., Horizon) preferred.
  • Background in professional services, consulting, engineering, or a similar project‑driven environment.
  • PMP certification is a plus.

Compensation

$86,300-$150,590 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
