Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Classification: Exempt
Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer (ME) plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficiency, quality, and sustainability of production processes within the site. By leveraging their technical expertise, they optimize manufacturing systems, support new product introduction (NPI), and drive continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires a hands‑on approach to problem‑solving, collaboration with cross‑functional teams, and a strong commitment to operational excellence.
The ME is a key partner and ensures that they prioritize the goals of their assigned area, focusing on maximizing customer value.
Responsibilities:
As the Manufacturing Engineer your work will include:
- Analyzing existing manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies and implement cost‑effective solutions.
- Developing and implementing the USSC Lean Operating Model (LOM) to reduce waste and improve productivity.
- Conducting root cause analysis and corrective action implementation to resolve production issues.
- Contributing to the Value Stream future state design and ensuring its execution across their assigned area.
- Conducting time studies and establish general manufacturing targets and routings.
- Providing technical support to the production team to ensure smooth operations.
- Troubleshooting equipment and process issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Developing and maintaining work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process documentation.
- Collaborating with design and R&D teams to ensure the manufacturability of new products.
- Leading the design and development of manufacturing processes for new products.
- Conducting the prototyping, testing, and validation of production systems for NPIs.
- Ensuring manufacturing processes meet quality standards and compliance requirements.
- Implementing quality control measures to monitor and improve product consistency.
- Working closely with the Quality Assurance team to implement preventive measures.
- Identifying, evaluating, and implementing new manufacturing technologies and equipment.
- Developing preventive maintenance schedules and ensure equipment reliability.
- Managing the installation and commissioning of new machinery.
- Promoting a culture of safety, ensuring adherence to HSE regulations.
- Identifying and mitigating the risks associated with manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Driving sustainability initiatives to reduce environmental impact.
- Exemplifying a safety‑first mindset, ensuring that policies and standards are applied.
- Working closely with the procurement, supply chain, and logistics teams to ensure timely material availability.
- Analyze material supply options and support sourcing initiatives. Provide input to the make vs. buy process and provide valuable analysis where necessary.
- Collaborating with sales and customer service to address client‑specific manufacturing requirements.
