Summary:
The Production Scheduler supports the execution of the Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) process specifically the MPS process cycle, by converting the approved demand and supply plan into executable production line and/or pick-and-pack schedules. This role ensures that daily and weekly schedules are achievable, material-ready, and aligned with capacity and staffing plans to meet on-time delivery, cost, and inventory objectives.
Working under the direction of the SIOP Leader and/or the SC Director, the MPS Production Scheduler coordinates with Procurement, Operations, and Logistics to maintain stable flow, accurate master data, and consistent adherence to planning standards. The role is hands‑on, detail‑driven, and central to ensuring that what is planned in SIOP is successfully executed on the shop or fulfillment floor.
Responsibilities- Translate the SIOP plan into weekly and daily MPS schedules for assigned production lines and/or pick‑and‑pack operations.
- Balance customer demand, material availability, and line capacity to create executable production plans.
- Communicate schedule requirements to Team Leaders and Group Leaders, ensuring readiness and clarity of priorities.
- Support the MPS optimization meetings and the MPS commitment meetings for your product line and/or pick and pack area by identifying capacity or material constraints and coordinating recovery actions with the SIOP Leader.
- Ensure schedules reflect planned maintenance, new product introductions, and staffing availability.
- Monitor schedule adherence and real‑time execution, escalating variances that threaten customer delivery or efficiency.
- Maintain visibility on WIP, material flow, and completed units to validate plan vs. actual.
- Adjust sequencing and loading of production or packaging tasks to minimize downtime and optimize throughput.
- Capture daily performance feedback for input into SIOP and continuous improvement routines.
- Maintain accurate master data (routings, lead times, capacities) within ERP/MRP systems.
- Participate in Lean and PDCA problem‑solving sessions to address recurring scheduling or capacity issues.
- Support visual management and KPI tracking boards to update schedule health and progress.
- Contribute to simplification and automation initiatives that improve scheduling accuracy and responsiveness.
- Collaborate with Procurement and Logistics to confirm inbound material readiness.
- Coordinate with Quality and Engineering for build changes or new program introductions.
- Communicate with Production Leaders regarding schedule risks and mitigation plans.
- Provide accurate short‑term capacity and inventory data for SIOP review meetings.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Operations, or Business (or equivalent experience).
- APICS CPIM or other professional certification preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in production scheduling, materials planning, or manufacturing coordination.
- You are a decision maker that can professionally articulate thought processes.
- Able to manage competing priorities without losing control of the schedule.
- You connect planning, production, and supply teams through clear communication.
- Able to address bottlenecks and adapt quickly when demand or supply changes.
- Eager to deepen your understanding of SIOP, capacity planning, and Lean operations.
- Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and basic understanding of SIOP principles.
- Proficient mathematics and analytic skills.
- Strong computer skills, including use of Excel or planning‑systems.
- Familiarity with Lean or continuous improvement tools.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
