Job Title: Inventory & Logistics Specialist

Summary:

The Inventory and Logistics Specialist is vital to our success. The role is responsible for carrying out the required standard activities of their assigned tasks, in full compliance with the work Instruction and/or Standard Operating Procedure, and without compromise to their own, and colleagues, safety.

The Inventory and Logistics Specialist will be taught how to undertake their tasks safely, and to a high-quality level, through a rigorous Job Instruction process, and will attain the relevant certification necessary to advance their career, as measured by the job skills competence matrix.

The Inventory and Logistics Specialist will be fully supported by their Group Leader (GL), who will enable their training and coaching, and quickly respond to them if they find any off standard / quality issues.

They will be expected to actively identify safety concerns (Hazard identification), make problems immediately known to their GL (Pull the Andon), and raise improvement ideas to solve problems (Kaizen).

They will be part of a team that will collectively work on creating a ‘Great Place to Work’ through a culture of continuous improvement, safe working and open dialogue

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the team in creating a “Great Place to Work” by role-modelling safety-first, a Kaizen mind-set, and supporting their colleagues.
  • Hold yourself, and team members, accountable to embody the United Safety PASSION Values.
  • Undertake all tasks in compliance with the standard work and training, and make any problems; safety, quality, or otherwise, immediately known to GL.
  • Exemplify safety first mindset and follow all United Safety Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards.
  • Understand your team’s People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cash and Cost Key Performance Indicators and your contribution to their attainment.
  • Become certified at the Lean Awareness level and implement at least 1 Kaizen per month.
  • Support the GL in problem solving, contributing ideas based upon experience of your tasks.
  • Are an active member of the team, promoting collective engagement.
  • Comply with all legal/regulatory requirements and company policies as well as individual responsibilities and accountabilities.
  • Attain Inventory and Logistics Specialist level 2, and be Lean Awareness Certified within 8 weeks.
  • Maintain consistent daily housekeeping of all areas of responsibility.
  • Conduct cycle counts as requested and ensure materials are in correct locations.
  • Participate in regular and annual physical inventory.
  • Document materials and supplies disposition by recording units delivered and location of units.
  • Handle, allocate and transfer materials needed to maintain an efficient flow of material through the operation.
  • Maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock; recording location of inventory.
  • Locate materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders.
  • Ship & receive materials using ERP system.
  • Communicate directly with freight carriers.
  • Create bills of lading (BOL), packing slips, and customs documentation for outgoing materials using our ERP system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
