Position: Quality Control Tech (QC)

Description

The Quality Control (QC) Technician plays a critical role in ensuring that transit buses meet internal specifications, customer requirements, and regulatory standards. This position performs in-process and final inspections throughout the production line, identifies nonconformities, and works closely with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and improve manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform inspections of incoming materials, in-process assemblies, and completed buses to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and customer specifications.
  • Document findings in inspection reports and maintain accurate records in accordance with company quality standards and ISO requirements.
  • Conduct dimensional checks, functional tests, and visual inspections using gauges, tools, and other test equipment.
  • Identify and isolate non-conforming materials or products; initiate non-conformance reports (NCRs) and support root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with production teams to resolve issues and ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Support First Article Inspections (FAI), final inspections, and customer source inspections as required.
  • Assist in audits and quality improvement initiatives to maintain and enhance the quality system.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing quality control or inspection role; experience in vehicle assembly, aerospace, or heavy equipment a plus.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Proficiency in using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, multimeters, and inspection gauges.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, quality assurance procedures, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and organized.
Working Conditions
  • Fast‑paced, hands‑on manufacturing environment with frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • May involve work in varied temperatures and around moving vehicles or equipment.
