Summary
Logistics Specialist is a key administrative and logistics execution role for industrial ingredients, flavors, and seasonings. A qualified individual will work closely with the operations and sales teams, supporting all facets of the shipment preparation to receipt process. This position requires a self‑driven, team‑player with strong initiative, writing, and communication skills.
Essential FunctionsThe Logistics Specialist manages the movement of goods and materials through full truckload, less‑than‑truckload, international ocean, and parcel shipments. Responsibilities include inbound and inter‑site transfers, outbound customer shipments, supplier coordination, documentation handling, compliance with regulatory requirements, and ensuring all logistics operations run smoothly to meet customer expectations.
Responsibilities- Utilize independent judgment to manage transportation schedules, optimize routes, and coordinate shipments across carriers.
- Negotiate with carriers and suppliers to secure favorable rates and service levels.
- Dispatch freight movement to meet customer and operational expectations.
- Communicate, answer inquiries, and provide documentation to customers, transportation companies, and shipping facilities.
- Understand and operate all areas of the logistics operation.
- Reconcile daily documentation and update the Transportation Management System.
- Assist with freight approval and invoice reconciliation.
- Ensure customer expectations are achieved or exceeded, fostering a customer‑centric culture.
- Confirm proper documentation for all shipments.
- Communicate with stakeholders—including carriers, brokers, customers, and internal departments—proactively resolving issues.
- Use computers, software, and technology for transportation, inventory, and communication purposes.
- At least 2 years of experience in logistics, customer service, or related office environments.
- Bachelor's degree focused in supply chain or related field.
- Experience with carriers, freight forwarders, and NVOCCs.
- Ability to track shipments and address delays or exceptions.
- Proficient with ERP and Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong time‑management, attention to detail, problem‑solving, organizational, and multi‑tasking abilities.
- Experience with international shipments, including Incoterms, customs documentation, and U.S. customs procedures.
- Preferred: Experience with Transportation Management Systems.

Physical RequirementsPrimary work involves sitting most of the day; walking and standing are occasional. Typing and repetitive manual tasks are required. The role requires use of a computer and other office machinery. Clear communication and attention to detail are essential.
Work Environment / HoursRoutine office setting with potential for partial remote days. Full‑time hours are typically 8:30‑5:00 pm, Monday‑Friday, with occasional overtime.
