Position Title
Physical Education Teacher (Elementary)
CompensationBase: $64,500;
Tested Subject: $2,000;
Experience:
$200 per year;
Advanced Degree-Master's: $3,000;

Under the general supervision of the School Director, develop students' physical skills and abilities, strength, agility, poise, coordination, and teamwork; promote understanding of the importance of exercise for physical and mental well‑being; motivate students toward physical fitness, hygiene, and good health.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
- New Jersey Standard Teaching Certification (CE, CEAS) with subject matter specialization:
Health & Physical Education. - Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to engage in self‑evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of grade‑specific school curriculum and concepts, including all subject matters taught.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations regarding education and students, as well as relating to health education.
- Understand the requirement to maintain confidentiality concerning charter school related matters.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work; parents, students, and faculty, etc.
- Prior to employment, the following must be addressed:
- Required to complete a criminal history background check to prove the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person's offense in accordance with N.J.S.A 18A:6-7.1.
- Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6A:32-6.2.
- Pass the state required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test as required by N.J.A.C. 6A:32-6.3.
- Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
- Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push objects or materials.
- Requires the ability to work in noisy and crowded environments.
- Occasionally requires stooping, bending, or reaching.
- Requires some traveling.
- Occasionally requires work outdoors dealing with school activities.
The Physical Education Teacher Will
- Develop and administer Physical Education classes consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- Teach knowledge of, and develop skills and abilities in, physical fitness, rhythm and dance, coordination and agility, exercise, and sports.
- Develop students' concepts in leadership, teamwork, responsibility and social skills; provide a safe and optimal learning environment; give appropriate feedback regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student growth and progress in physical educational activities and modify instructional methods to fit individual student’s needs, including students with special needs.
- Continue to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
- Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record‑keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievements and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
- Assist in coordinating extra‑curricular activities, including student performances, assemblies, and athletic events.
- Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
