RF Test Technician

This role focuses on the design, development, documentation, and production support of RF and Microwave components, including active and passive devices, for the telecommunications industry. The RF Test Engineer performs hands‑on testing, troubleshooting, and optimization of RF components and systems across prototype and production stages, ensuring high performance and reliability for a growing portfolio of products.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and document RF and Microwave components, including active and passive devices, for telecommunications applications.
  • Follow established RF test procedures and accurately complete detailed test reports for all tested products.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize discrete power amplifier modules and low noise amplifiers (LNAs) at both prototype and production stages.
  • Define and construct RF test setups to measure VSWR, gain, group delay, phase variation, IP3, P1dB/P3dB compression points, noise figure, and harmonics for narrow band and broadband high‑power amplifiers.
  • Perform RF testing using network analyzers, power meters, noise figure meters, and other RF laboratory test equipment.
  • Define and construct test setups to measure VSWR, insertion loss, group delay, and phase variation for passive filtering products.
  • Test, characterize, and optimize Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) equipment such as bi‑directional amplifiers and tower‑mounted amplifiers for public safety and carrier applications.
  • Read, interpret, and work from electronic and mechanical blueprints to support testing and troubleshooting activities.
  • Communicate technical information clearly and professionally with internal teams and clients.
  • Manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously while adapting quickly to changes in production requirements.
  • Document new RF designs and test configurations to support future repeat orders and ongoing production.
  • Perform component‑level troubleshooting and board repair using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and other test equipment.
  • Use test equipment and tools, including microscopes, to support detailed inspection, soldering, and rework activities.
  • Apply strong electronics and electrical knowledge to analyze schematics, PCB layouts, and test results.
  • Maintain accurate records of test results, issues, and corrective actions to support continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
  • 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in testing and optimizing active and passive discrete RF components.
  • Strong RF testing experience using network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, power meters, noise figure meters, and other RF laboratory test equipment.
  • Proficiency in defining and building RF test setups to measure VSWR, gain, group delay, phase variation, IP3, compression points, noise figure, harmonics, and other key RF parameters.
  • Experience in testing and optimizing power amplifier modules and low noise amplifiers (LNAs) in both prototype and production environments.
  • Ability to test and characterize passive RF filtering products, including measurement of VSWR, insertion loss, group delay, and phase variation.
  • Full understanding of Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and the ability to test and optimize bi‑directional and tower‑mounted amplifiers for public safety and carrier systems.
  • Component‑level troubleshooting skills for RF and electronic assemblies, including board‑level repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic and mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency with general electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and other laboratory instruments.
  • Strong electronics and electrical fundamentals, including practical experience with PCB‑level diagnostics and soldering.
  • Ability to read and speak English and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team and independently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for documentation, reporting, and communication.
