MSP System Engineer L3

Overview

A growing Managed Services Provider supporting mid-sized businesses across NYC and Northern New Jersey is hiring a System Engineer / Senior System Administrator. This role is hands-on and client-facing, ideal for someone coming from a true MSP environment who enjoys variety, ownership, and solving real infrastructure problems.

You’ll work across multiple client environments, support modern infrastructure, and take ownership of escalations, projects, and ongoing improvements. This is not an internal IT role—recent MSP experience is mandatory.

• Support and manage Windows server environments across multiple clients
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex system, network, and infrastructure issues end-to-end
• Administer Microsoft 365 and Azure environments
• Manage virtualization platforms (VMware and/or Hyper-V)
• Configure and support firewalls, switches, VPNs, and core networking services
• Participate in client projects (server upgrades, migrations, cloud initiatives, security improvements)
• Document work clearly and follow change management and security best practices
• Communicate directly with clients in a professional, clear manner

• Recent experience working at a Managed Service Provider (MSP)
• 5+ years of Windows Systems Administration
• 5+ years of Network Administration
• 3+ years supporting Microsoft 365 environments
• 2+ years supporting Azure
• Hands-on experience with VMware ESXi and/or Hyper-V
• Strong understanding of:
• Active Directory, DNS, DHCP
• TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, NAT
• Firewalls and switches
• Proven ability to troubleshoot across servers, storage, networking, and cloud
• Comfortable handling escalations and client-facing work

Candidates at the top end will also have:

• Experience leading or owning complex infrastructure projects
• Strong troubleshooting instincts with minimal hand-holding
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and guide technical decisions
• Salary: $90K–$115K
