Entry Writer / Customs Entry Specialist
Location: Fair Lawn, NJ 07410
Pay: Competitive based on experience

A well-established global logistics and customs brokerage organization is seeking a detail-oriented Entry Writer / Customs Entry Specialist to join its Fair Lawn team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with customs clearance, freight forwarding, or import logistics experience who enjoys coordinating shipments, solving problems, and helping customers move freight efficiently.
What You’ll Do- Prepare and process customs entries and import documentation.
- Clear imported goods through U.S. Customs and facilitate final delivery.
- Review commercial invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, and supporting documents for accuracy.
- Classify goods using the appropriate tariff codes.
- Calculate duties, tariffs, taxes, and other applicable fees.
- Track shipments and provide customers with timely status updates.
- Confirm customs clearance, freight release, and shipment availability.
- Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, CFS warehouses, truckers, customers, and internal departments.
- Ensure documentation complies with customs regulations and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate shipment records and resolve documentation or clearance issues.
- Develop strong working relationships with customers and logistics partners.
- At least one year of freight forwarding, customs clearance, import, or logistics experience preferred.
- Candidates with relevant coursework in international business, supply chain, transportation, or logistics are also encouraged to apply.
- Familiarity with customs documentation and import procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluent English reading, writing, and speaking skills.
- Bilingual ability in Mandarin, Vietnamese, Korean, or Japanese is a plus.
