Position Overview

The Production Foreman is based at the Fairlawn, N.J. plant and reports directly to the Production Manager. The role focuses on providing leadership to the hourly production staff to achieve daily production goals and maintain high levels of performance and quality in the food manufacturing facility.

Schedule

Five days a week with required overtime based on production needs. Position is available on 3rd shift (11:00PM – 7:30AM). Shift scheduling will be determined at the time of hire.

Benefits

Benefits are based on Union Contract Provisions. Salary is based on experience and other qualifications: $22.00 – $24.00 per hour with a 3rd‑shift differential of $0.75.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safe Equipment Operation & Maintenance: Perform and oversee equipment operations and maintenance activities, including forklift driving, die changes, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive upkeep for manufacturing and processing systems. Monitor equipment performance, perform daily inspections, and ensure proper sanitation after changeovers.
  • Product Handling, Quality Control & Inventory Management: Inspect products for correct labeling, alignment, and processing; perform manual packing and palletizing; follow FIFO inventory methods; conduct quality checks; enforce HACCP, GMP, and food safety standards; reconcile inventory discrepancies through SAP and physical verification.
  • Food Safety & Sanitation Compliance: Follow GMP, HACCP, SQF, FSMA, and company food safety policies; maintain cleanliness and sanitation; lead FSQ compliance in assigned area; train employees in food safety protocols and enforce sanitation procedures; maintain accurate records of safety audits and compliance reports.
  • Team Collaboration, Leadership & Training: Assist team members, adapt to changes, contribute to productivity, safety, and quality goals; provide backup coverage for multiple roles; coordinate team activities, assign tasks, lead shift meetings; train others in advanced operations; motivate team members to meet production goals while maintaining morale.
  • Documentation, Communication & Continuous Improvement: Accurately complete production paperwork and report issues; record inventory transactions, shipments, and quality results in SAP; participate in 5S efforts; lead improvement projects; analyze downtime causes; drive cost‑saving and process improvement initiatives; facilitate clear and timely communication across shifts and departments.
Qualifications
  • Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum 1 year of work experience, preferably in manufacturing or food production. Forklift certification preferred; willingness to obtain certification if not already held. Minimum age 18.
  • Technical & Mechanical

    Skills:

    Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and perform minor repairs on production line equipment; knowledge of SAP, hand scanners, and basic math; advanced knowledge of MII, WE systems, and line huddle measures for higher levels.
  • Safety & Compliance: Knowledge of GMPs, SQF, HACCP, FSMA; commitment to following all company safety policies and procedures; physical ability to lift up to 50lbs, push heavy loads, stand/walk up to 90% of shift, and climb as needed; normal vision, hearing, and color perception; adherence to PPE and lock‑out/tag‑out procedures.
  • Teamwork, Communication & Leadership: Effective verbal and written communication in English; ability to work independently and collaboratively; provide training, guidance, and feedback; develop and support initiatives with minimal supervision.
  • Personal Attributes & Work Ethic: Positive attitude, dependable, self‑motivated, and willing to work overtime or weekends as needed; strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask, and flexibility to adapt in a fast‑paced environment.
Physical Demands

Employees must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, lift up to 50lbs frequently, pull, push, carry, grasp, reach, twist, turn, and stoop. Good hand‑eye coordination, motor skills, and 20/20 corrected vision are required.
