Position: Accounting Technician 1 (PCN 063867)

Job Summary

Job Title:

Accounting Technician I – Full‑time, Fairbanks, Alaska. This position is open to Alaska residents only.

Responsibilities
  • Support travel and accounting functions of the division, including coordinating goods and services requests, processing payroll, auditing, reconciling, and maintaining record‑keeping of invoices and payments.
  • Coordinate travel bookings, audit and reconcile divisional travel events for employees and clients.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of travel and accounts payable processes for the State of Alaska.
  • Assist the Regional Accounting Team with payroll, inventory management, and supplies.

  • Principles of Accounting – knowledge of GAAP, double entry, accrual, full accounting cycle.

  • Computer Skills – proficient with computers, databases, and automated systems.
Minimum Qualifications

One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included computer systems and basic arithmetic calculations.

Substitutions: A formal vocational education program in accounting or bookkeeping, or post‑secondary education where 3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month.

Benefits

Full‑time benefits include insurance, retirement, paid leave, and twelve paid holidays per year. Probationary period of six months.
