Overview
CNSM is seeking a CARBO Accounting Specialist to help support the financial backbone of our academic programs. In this role, you’ll produce accurate reports, reconcile accounts, and assist faculty and staff with fiscal questions tied to both teaching and research activities. As the CARBO Accounting Specialist, you will play a central role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting faculty research activities, and helping departments make informed fiscal decisions. You’ll dive into data, run dynamic financial queries, prepare journal vouchers, track budgets, and deliver the information that keeps CNSM’s operations strong and future focused. This position also provides backup purchasing support and contributes to a variety of administrative functions.
Responsibilities- Support accurate financial reporting and data analysis for faculty research activities.
- Prepare journal vouchers, reconcile accounts, and maintain fiscal records.
- Track budgets and manage fiscal documentation for departmental and program funds.
- Provide backup purchasing support and assist with administrative tasks.
- Resolve discrepancies, produce clear and accurate reports, and maintain high data integrity.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to address fiscal questions.
One year of college coursework in Accounting or related fields and two years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Position DetailsThis position is part of a bargaining unit represented by the Coalition of Alaska University Staff for Equity (CAUSE)-UAW. It is located on the Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks, AK. This is a full‑time, term‑funded, non‑exempt staff position complete with a competitive salary and a full employee benefits package. The University of Alaska provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and medical, dental and vision care coverage.
New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 77, based on education and experience. This position is open until filled, and applications will be reviewed on a weekly basis.
