The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Program Management and Administration is looking for an Accounting Technician 3 to help us Keep Alaska Moving!

Pay is based on the location of the selected applicant; salaries will be discussed at the time of the interview.

Anchorage: $31.54/hourly

Fairbanks: $32.49/hourly

Juneau: $33.12/hourly

Are you ready to play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing capital projects? In this dynamic position within the division's Project Control section, you'll be at the heart of financial operations, ensuring accuracy and transparency across major initiatives.

What You'll Do:

In this role, you will analyze capital project data and IRIS financial records to ensure accurate and complete financial reporting. You will reconcile funding, expenditures, revenues, and adjusting journal entries (AJEs/CH8s) across accounting systems, projects, and appropriations. You will also maintain project financial data, develop Microsoft Access reports, and partner with project managers to analyze expenditures, support project management, and ensure timely revenue collection.

The working environment you can expect:

This position may be filled in Anchorage, Fairbanks or Juneau. In-state telework options may be permitted if approved by the supervisor.

Who we are looking for:

  Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, standards, and practices (for example, double entry accounting, accrual accounting), including the full accounting cycle and the preparation of work sheets, financial statements, ledgers, and journals.
