JOB SUMMARY
Brice Inc. seeks an Associate Project Manager to assist in planning, executing, and controlling costs of heavy civil construction projects. Responsibilities include developing and implementing safety and quality control plans, work plans, managing subcontractors, ordering materials, overseeing logistics, producing financial reports, and forecasting costs and revenue. The role also supervises project engineers and grade checkers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Assist the Project Manager in planning, organizing, and directing activities to complete the project successfully.
- Ensure compliance with project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within corporate policy and contract specifications.
- Create and implement a project‑specific safety plan and review job hazard analyses for applicability and compliance.
- Implement the quality control plan in alignment with contract documents.
- Monitor and control the project, utilizing on‑site staff to meet schedule and budget objectives.
- Update and monitor the project schedule and deliverables, communicating progress to the Project Manager regularly.
- Review site data collection via Autodesk Civil 3D for accuracy and completeness.
- Requisition supplies and materials necessary for project completion.
- Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, including job cost coding and quantity tracking.
- Provide the Equipment Manager with project equipment lists, utilization forecasts, mobilization schedules, and maintenance needs.
- Generate correspondence with the owner, suppliers, and subcontractors as required.
- Review pay estimates and ensure that completed quantities are accurately reflected in the current estimate.
- Report complete subcontractor quantities to the Project Business Manager and PM for pay schedule accuracy.
- Represent the company at project meetings.
- Travel to remote locations for work‑related purposes for extended periods (more than 85% of the time, as needed).
- Maintain constant alertness and work safely.
- Perform other duties as directed.
Oversee Project Engineers and Grade Checkers and assist the Superintendent in directing field personnel and subcontractors.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES- Technical knowledge of field construction concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Understanding of construction, architectural, and building industry operating practices.
- Knowledge of construction project scheduling, subcontracting, submittals, quality control, and safety.
- Familiarity with heavy civil construction and related functions.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and construction safety regulations.
- Strong personnel management skills; enforce labor and employment regulations.
- Knowledge of remote location construction projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Performance under deadlines and ability to adjust work schedules to meet goals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project.
- Proficient in construction management software:
Autodesk Civil 3D, HCSS Heavy Bid, HCSS Heavy Job, and Spectrum accounting software. - Ability to read and understand all types of plans and specifications.
- Organize and maintain a tidy file system and work area.
- Travel to remote locations with little notice.
- Operate a motor vehicle safely and efficiently.
- Work flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (equivalent experience and skills may substitute).
- 1–3 years of heavy civil construction experience, preferably in project management or field supervision.
- Experience managing projects in remote locations.
- Background in firm fixed‑pricing contracts preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and qualification to operate a vehicle under the company’s Driving Policy.
- Pass drug, driving, and background screening.
