Role OverviewReporting to the Project Director and working closely with Teck’s Construction Manager, the Construction Manager (Infrastructure) is responsible for delivering construction scopes, creating project value, and mitigating execution risks across the Project Development Group portfolio. Initially supporting the Red Dog Mine Life Expansion Project in Northern Alaska, the role oversees construction execution in alignment with Teck’s Project Development Framework, construction strategy, and construction management plan, primarily through management of the CM service provider.
The Construction Manager partners with project, functional, and operational leaders to review and monitor HSEC, quality, procurement, contracting, budget, cost, and schedule plans. The role provides expertise in construction strategy, site management, constructability reviews, and risk assessment, while promoting innovation, technology, safety‑in‑design, and sustainable construction practices. The position also supports coordination between above‑ and below‑ground activities, working closely with the Underground Construction Manager and development contractor to manage project interfaces.

- Lead the Teck field construction team, optimizing workforce levels and staffing mixes to achieve project milestones.
- Ensuring that the detailed site mobilization plan is generated and the field construction site is established, including all facilities, equipment, services, and staff.
- Enforce site safety, security, and work procedures, ensuring compliance with Teck safety standards.
- Manage CM service provider performance, ensuring compliance with construction, quality, and contractual requirements.
- Deliver construction activities through effective planning, execution, performance monitoring, issue resolution, and reporting.
- Proven understanding of Construction Work Packaging, Constructability, and Construction Readiness Processes and Practices.
- Partner with corporate and project teams, including engineering, procurement, project controls, risk, and operational readiness functions.
- Manage stakeholder relationships throughout site establishment, construction, commissioning, start‑up, and demobilization.
- Develop detailed construction plans and schedules with contractors and Operations, identifying opportunities to optimize cost, schedule, and labor efficiency.
- Monitor construction performance against plans and contracts, providing accurate reporting, forecasting, and schedule updates.
- Facilitate and coordinate work among contractors, operational personnel and others contributing to the effort. Providing clear and firm direction, decision‑making and leadership to the construction team.
- Monitor productivity and cost, as well as implementing appropriate action to maintain maximum labor productivity and cost effectiveness.
- Maintain quality of work in accordance with the quality management plan and the standards as specified in the design documents.
- Collaborate with site Operational Leadership to for engagement in planning to facilitate early alignment and final sign off.
- A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, civil or electrical engineering is desired but not mandatory.
- At least 15 years of experience in managing the construction of major brownfield and greenfield projects for the resource industry, with preference given to Large Scale Mining projects in North America with preference given to Arctic Projects.
