Position: Project Scheduler (Fairbanks, AK)

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years experience in construction scheduling using P6 or similar software.
  • Minimum 1 year experience as field engineer or similar position on Arctic pipeline construction projects.
  • Proficient in Primavera scheduling software or similar.
  • Effective listening, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to speak before small and large groups.
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Adobe, and Windows.
  • Ability to learn, understand and effectively use client and DES's corporate management information systems.
  • Good working knowledge of scheduling concepts including activity relationships, resource loading and progress measurement methods.
  • Ability to use advanced and intermediate mathematical concepts and skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately, effectively and quickly use and logically apply mathematical principles and formulas in computer-generated reports, evaluations and all other correspondence.
  • Ability to understand totality of projects and the reasoning behind decisions made by construction supervision to keep projects on schedule and within budgets.
  • Strong ability to reason with client's project management and construction supervision.
Responsibilities
  • Understand, practice, and continuously lead by example Doyon Energy Services' commitment to zero incident safety and environmental culture.
  • Maintain project schedules in P6 and update them regularly.
  • Identify major schedule milestones from contract scopes of work.
  • Determine reasonable schedule logic and constraints based on discussion with the Project Team.
  • Develop and update the three‑week look‑ahead schedule(s) weekly, incorporating manpower loading and construction strategy input.
  • Communicate schedule status to management regularly.
  • Interact with engineering discipline leads and construction managers to understand issues and conflicts impacting schedule.
  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets for various phases of construction projects.
  • Create all construction schedules, including establishing baseline schedules and updates as work progresses.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports on expenditures, progress, commitments, budget performance, and schedule performance with Project Controls.
  • Provide regular briefings to the project manager and project controls manager on schedule issues and concerns.
  • Promote and practice teamwork continually.
  • Understand how corporate policies, procedures, practices, and processes relate to projects and clients.
  • Participate in required client meetings, including management, cost controls, construction, and other meetings, as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40+ pounds.
  • May be required to stand, sit, or walk for reasonable periods of time.
  • Operate personal computer for extended periods.
  • Work outdoors in weather extremes and near equipment with potentially high noise levels.
  • Must have valid driver's license with good driving record.
  • Must pass a drug test.
