Job Overview

This position is responsible for providing Informatics expertise and resources for a facility or specialty area. As a resource, the role offers on‑going user training, informatics support, and serves as a liaison between clinical support staff and the Clinical Information System IT team to communicate user needs and facilitate system modification.

Responsibilities
  • Provide decision support and coordinate ongoing information system evaluation, including user accuracy, data integrity, and system reliability.
  • Develop, coordinate, facilitate, and plan on‑going information system evaluation activities.
  • Provide application testing for system enhancements and participate in post‑implementation change evaluation.
  • Develop and implement action plans, support users in maintaining changed workflow and technological processes, and coordinate with IT regarding downtime.
  • Collaborate with education team to develop and improve training materials related to changes and upgrades in the EMR and clinical application systems.
  • Develop and implement communication and education plans with clinical educators and management for current staff to assure changes to the EMR are implemented accordingly.
  • Provide clinical application system training and support.
  • Maintain user communication and support to assure user competency, obtaining information on system usage and workflow concerns through scheduled rounds.
  • Collaborate with end‑users, account managers, physicians, and clinicians to help define health‑care information issues and enhancement opportunities.
  • Identify methodologies for implementing, utilizing, and modifying informatics solutions and data structures to support health‑care access, delivery, and evaluation.
  • Provide consultation and project support in conjunction with project leadership for deployment of new IT clinical applications.
  • Maintain an engaged core user group, identifying super users, holding regular meetings, and conducting focus meetings for user feedback.
  • Collaborate with users, leadership, and IT to resolve conflicts between workflow and information systems, promote patient safety and confidentiality, and support facility‑specific and system‑wide processes.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of trends in healthcare informatics, nursing practices, regulatory standards, and organizational direction.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary process improvement teams to identify future uses of information systems and potential improvements.
  • Develop and evaluate effectiveness of communication tools and processes, regularly updating supervisors and escalating critical issues.
  • Maintain consistent communication with all users of clinical information systems.
