The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Alaska Fairbanks seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Statistics to begin Fall 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate statistics courses, including introductory and upper‑division classes.
  • Develop a vibrant research program in statistical theory and/or applications that meets national and international standards.
  • Supervise graduate students and provide statistical consulting to the university research community.
  • Serve on departmental and university committees.
  • Engage in collaborative research with state and federal agency scientists in areas such as ecology, fisheries, wildlife science, geology, and engineering.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in statistics or a closely related field by July 1 2026.
  • Evidence of strong research record or promising research potential.
  • Commitment to effective and engaged teaching of a diverse student body.
  • Experience working with diverse students and developing new curricula is preferred.
Position Details

This is a full‑time, 9‑month base appointment located on the Troth Yeddha’ campus in Fairbanks, AK. The position is FLSA exempt and offers a competitive salary along with full employee benefits, including retirement options, paid leave, tuition waivers, and medical, dental, and vision coverage.
