Join UAF’s College of Indigenous Studies as a postdoctoral fellow to help shape a groundbreaking leadership program, lead community-based research, and support Alaska Native student achievement while growing your research and grant management skills.
The University of Alaska Fairbanks College of Indigenous Studies invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow to advance community-centered initiatives in Indigenous Food and Energy Sovereignty and Alaska Native student success. This role includes developing the LIFE (Leaders in Food and Energy) Scholars program, conducting participatory research, leading a data-driven student success project, and managing a federally funded grant. We seek a creative, collaborative scholar committed to respectful engagement with Indigenous communities and interdisciplinary partnership.
This is a unique opportunity to build a strong research portfolio and gain experience in program development and grant management.
To thrive in this role, the successful candidate will excel in both qualitative and quantitative methods, integrating Indigenous knowledge systems, and ensuring respectful, reciprocal partnerships with Alaska Native and other Indigenous communities.
ResponsibilitiesStrong project management skills, including grant compliance, budgeting, and timely reporting, will be essential. The Fellow will effectively translate research into both scholarly publications and accessible, culturally relevant materials for communities. Experience working with Indigenous communities, a record of success in grant-funded projects, and the ability to balance rigorous scholarship with meaningful community engagement will position the Fellow to make a lasting impact.

Location and ConditionsThis position is located on the Troth Yeddha Campus in Fairbanks, AK, and flexible on-site/hybrid work arrangements may be considered in accordance with UA regulations. This is a full-time, UNAC-represented position with a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage.
Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
