Are you enthusiastic about mentoring, teaching, and working with youth entering 6th through 12th grades? Would you enjoy contributing meaningfully to our CAS Summer Camps program? We are hiring Summer Camp Counselors enthusiastic about the fine arts, humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. Preference will be given to students in the College of the Arts and Sciences and those with experience mentoring, teaching, and working with youth and with summer camps.

We are hiring Summer Camp Counselors excited to engage youth entering grades 6th through 12th on our beautiful UAA Anchorage Campus.
To thrive in this position, candidates will be energetic, patient, creative, communicative self-starters who are passionate about mentoring, teaching and working with youth. We seek UAA students who are committed to rolling up their sleeves, and contributing meaningfully to the synthesis, understanding, and communication of shared knowledge between UAA faculty, community experts, and camp youth.
Minimum QualificationsTo be eligible for student employment, applicant must:
- a) Be enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester (Summer 2026) of employment, or the intent to enroll in six credit hours during the Fall 2026 semester.
- b) Have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or higher.
- c) Must successfully pass a background check and complete 20 hours of required paid training.
- d) Preference will be given to students in the UAA College of Arts and Sciences and those with experience mentoring, teaching and working with youth and summer camps.
This position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage, Alaska. This is a full-time, temporary, Student Worker position. Pay is $18.24 per hour. Employment is for 40 hours per week for one camp (plus training time), occurring from mid-May to the end of June.
