The UAF Student Activities Office is looking for an energetic and creative student to assist in planning and implementing fun and exciting activities for other UAF students.
SAO MissionThe Student Activities Office exists to enhance the experience of students at University of Alaska Fairbanks by providing opportunities to have fun outside the classroom, challenge themselves, and grow through new experiences and meeting new people. It supports the university’s mission while giving voice and strength to students.
SAO Goals / VisionSAO puts on events and programs that students want to attend, always with a purpose – whether to discover new interests at an Open Mic Night or to learn about climate change through a recycled art night.
Required Responsibilities- Ability to work up to 20 hours per week, including evenings and some weekends.
- Telephone and interactive communication skills; organizational skills; familiarity with basic computer applications.
- Present a favorable public impression in appearance and behavior; adapt to changes in workload; work independently with limited supervision and cooperate with other employees.
- Attention to detail, multitasking, and handling difficult or stressful situations with diplomacy and finesse.
- Abide by all local and state laws and University regulations.
- Administrative support: data entry, answering phone calls, responding to emails, assisting in writing reports, maintaining the Nanook Engage page.
- Other duties as assigned, including working closely with other areas within the Center for Student Engagement and collaborating with campus and community partners.
- UAF student enrolling a minimum of 6 credits per semester with a minimum GPA of 2.0, or a newly enrolled student.
Location:
University of Alaska campus in Fairbanks.
Position:
Student Assistant 2, minimum starting pay $15.00 per hour. This is a pooled position; applications are reviewed as needed.
